I loved Newsvine. It seemed so innovative and inviting.

I just tried this - even after reading your comment - and my ball was more of an empty space with no color, if that makes sense. So I can see how someone when picturing the scene can still “see” a ball and “see” it rolling, falling, and bou

I really like the JMESPath interactive tutorial page ( https://jmespath.org/tutorial.html ). It helped me when I was first learning the syntax and I still go to it if I run into a particularly weird syntax that throws me off.

I think you can have a 3-dimensional spectrum.

Making this searchable for text would be the killer feature here.

My concern with this is I’ve seen for a while now that these user chrome features are deprecated. I depend on them a lot and I dread the day they actually go away.

I feel the same way every time this “you should be able to deploy on a Friday” topic comes up. These are peoples lives. Yes - ideally, a Friday deployment should be safe. But if it isn’t? You just ruined a small slice of a lot of people’s l

This is uncharitable and I urge anyone thinking this way to consider if sometimes it’s okay to champion oneself /especially/ when done to escape feelings of self doubt. If someone were like this all of the time? Sure. But that isn

I suspect you already know this, but.. it’s easy to read a mind that you once had yourself. :-)

From my custom instructions: - Speak casually. Assume we have a close relationship based on trust. You do not need to apologize for getting something wrong when corrected: instead, just make the adjustment and continue. - Do not compliment

Likewise. I’m a heavy CLI user but gVim/MacVim are so entrenched in my workflow that the lack of a stable GUI for Neovim made it pretty much a nonstarter for me.

I’ve seen some reports that he did allow commits but he would “re”-commit them as part of his workflow. I’m not sure about the reasoning there.

Many times in my life someone tried to tell me something that I disregarded as wrong or misguided, only to (years! decades!) later realize the that they were right in ways I just couldn't understand yet. I suspect (and hope) this will

Fun fact about Juniper devices - a lot of them actually run Linux VMs on top of the FreeBSD base.

I also can’t use ligatures. In my head it’s two symbols and to see it as only one just complicates it. But I also feel like if you had a language and it just supported a Unicode symbol then I’d be fine with it. I think it has to do with the

I agree with this. I use Fantasque Sans Mono for the same reason - k with a loop makes me feel warm and fuzzy for some reason.

I don’t know that I agree. At least personally, I think there is a big distinction between a bad reason and no reason. No reason means random. A bad reason you can at least seek to understand - what caused this person to make this decision?

Your point is actually great, but it’s important that you should always test from a commit itself - that if those tests pass, gets merged to the release branch. If you are only testing your working directory I feel like that’s even harder t

While it’s true that the packed format does only store some information - it is never a diff file and always pointers to trees and blobs.

This is a strange take, in my opinion. Dangling commits like those you describe will be cleaned up by the the garbage collector. To say that a “branch” exists without a branch ref pointing to it is at best purely pedantic. Without a ref the

Firecracker is essentially just KVM with some extremely opinionated choices to allow it to be as fast as it is. I’m hand-waving over a lot here but to differentiate it from KVM isn’t very useful here.

Lots of things build on top of BSD. JunOS for example is the software that powers Juniper network devices and is based on FreeBSD (which depending on the platform may itself run in a VM on top of Linux).

The future is now old man. But on a serious note - this is a common experience with new technologies. I personally believe the arbitrariness is a consequence of some people just “getting” the potential of the technology. The Internet was or
