I'm running nearly all my services in dual stack mode, as my dedicated server provider hetzner.de offers native IPv6 for quite some time. Basic IPv6 is not that hard but when it comes to things like iptables you have to take care: Most ipta

Amazon's problem is transparency. Their technology stack, their failover and redundancy setup — nobody knows it (exactly). Nobody can review the measurements and rate it. Nobody can easily swich to other options if AWS isn't a valid option

I've used linux-vserver.org years ago and lxc, which is in the official kernel, looks promising. This would be relativly efficient and secure (ok, one kernel exploit => all instances)

I was suprised no virtualisation is included in the solution (or I did not find the parts in the github repos). Seriously, shared-hosting is so 1996 from a security perspective. So for me It will be "just" an "internal cloud" solution and m

Don't reinvent the wheel if you have no clear reason / vision to do so. Period. Also most "re-inventions" are driven by a lack of understanding of the existing solutions or the non existing faith to stick to conventions. Many of the convent

It wonders me that most IPv6 bashing comes "mainly" from US where the IPv6 adoption rate is low. If you check Asia or Europe there are providers running IPv6 in their backbone for a decade (e.g. space.net), also nearly every provider at lea

Here in Europe dedicated machines are so cheap (100$/month for QuadCore CPU, 24GB RAM, 2x1.5TB SATA) that most startups and companies just order a bunch of dedicated servers [1][2]. Hetzner[1] e.g. has pre-provisioned servers running that g

While Amazon still has no native IPv6 you can at least use 6to4 for now to evaluate/test, see my guide and script at: http://binarymentalist.com/post/2984855918/try-ipv6-on-amazo...
