Wow. My mental image was that of tiny vile-like mammals cowering in the undergrowth while the giant reptiles such as dinosaurs roamed the Earth. This discovery changes that image drastically!

I don’t see many non superhero or non franchise movies coming out of Hollywood. It sure sounds like the moneymen’s influence: why not milk a sure thing?

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10687506/ An excellent movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy. It's a heartbreaking story.

My point stands, particularly w.r.t. individual software engineers. Do you think any of the companies you mentioned had one, or even two/three engineers build the complicated marvels you are talking about? Do you think they would inc

There aren't too many hardcore engineering jobs. They are being done in startups where hard problems are being solved, and even there the average startup is just a website which is acting as a broker in a two-sided marketplace, or some

I do not know if Canada has done aggressive QE to keep asset values afloat, like the US has. As people with larger incomes are the larger holders of assets (including stocks, real estate, other property), they are the biggest beneficiaries.

Apparently the Japanese believe that they can have their cake and eat it too. The striking thing is that a majority are concerned about China, but also a majority are against additional taxes to pay for increased defense expenditures.

Pretty incredible that an airline has taken the time to put up a website that shows sights that can be viewed from the flight. You put in the from/to airports and you are presented with a bunch of pictures. Do you know of similar websi

There are other fast-growing occupations that pay way less than others. For example, wind turbine service technician pays way less than the top fastest-growing occupation.

It's surprising that AZ gets only 9% of its energy needs from Solar. Will installing batteries for storage bump this up to a significant percentage? If so, how much?

There is some truth to this. Having children and raising them is an unquestionably useful activity but most societies, particularly the industrialized ones such as the US, Japan, and Korea, do not 'pay' for. Many mothers are paid

If you spend 6-8 hours per day on work, then that leaves fewer than four hours a day in which you have to do non-maintenance activities. Even fewer if you have family or are tending to aged parents, for example. This describes the majority

Not practical, if you spend the majority of your waking hours working, as most Americans do. But having interactions outside of work is also important, and this is where 'go outside' would be helpful.

Why does there need to be a metric? People with management experience can decide these things based on intuition. It's practically impossible to quantify anything in this industry, but 'data-driven decisionmaking' is fetishiz

Companies set aside stock for option pools, can issue more stock, etc. It's like the treasury/fed rolled into one, that governs company stock. For instance, the typical SV company will put 20% of the company towards employee optio
