Very annoyingly, in the FF 24 beta, Firebug basically crashes the browser every time you open it (or switch to another tab and then back). Not sure if it's FF's problem or Firebug's, but it's really annoying.

To clarify: I'm not part of the core team, I'm just a contributor. (I've also only briefly looked at this issue.) Keep in mind that while I'm an active contributor, I don't speak on behalf of the core/security

There's two options that could have been taken here. 1. On hosts that don't support cron, tell users to use an external service to do it, and in the meantime their scheduled posts and other functionality breaks. 2. Implement a wor

This is exactly what plugins are for. Most people aren't going to need this, and for those that do, there's a tonne of plugins out there that will add this functionality for you.

Just linked it with my Dropbox account. That is the best implementation of authorisation I've seen in any mobile app, period. Compared to the Facebook method (overlay a dialog that for all I know could just be made by the app itself),

Indeed. Might be something to do with the differing frequencies in different countries; I'm in Australia, so my 3G would either have been on the 900MHz or 2.1GHz bands (with GSM on 900MHz/1.8GHz).

A solid box of metal is going to be a pretty effective Faraday cage regardless of what (sane^) frequency you're using. Microwaves on the other hand are specifically designed to be Faraday cages, so they're tailored specifically to

I'm trying to push for that WordPress ticket, but it's unlikely that we'll get any significant traction for a while. The database class in WP (apart from being fairly horrible) is a huge component to make major changes to lik

WordPress doesn't support anything except MySQL because all the queries are specifically written for it. Developing for a single database enables the queries to be optimized for that database. (That's the official WP line anyway, I'd love P

I use bitwise operations whenever they make sense. Usually, this is abstracted behind the scenes, since most people aren't going to care about messing with bits. For example, the WordPress JSON API I've been working on [0] uses them for HTT

More likely, it's because we don't have them on our keyboards. Programming languages are usually about reducing friction for programmers, but using the proper multiplication/division symbols would increase that for most people.

That's normal division, which is a notation. The GP is talking about long division, which is a technique used to divide large numbers. The symbol in Australia (and I'd say most of the English speaking world) looks like a long square root si

÷ is the symbol for division since it symbolises a fraction, with the two dots taking the place of the numbers. I'd say this is why, as some people have noted, : can also be used for division in some contexts: it represents a ratio, which i

I use OAuth for an application written in PHP, and as such, there's no possible way to trust the client/secret, given that the source is not obfuscated in any way. This application talks to my own server, and the OAuth flow is basically jus
