It would be naïve for anyone to think that recreating Silicon Valley exactly would be a French goal. Trying to achieve similar success in a more centralised, government-driven way sounds much more plausible. Such an approach has been unsucc

He/she probably means grammatical case declension for subjects, objects, possessives and whatnot. _Der_ Hund beißt _den_ Mann. _Der_ Mann gibt _dem_ Taxifahrer _das_ Geld. German has four cases, Polish seven(?), Russian six(?). In Engl

More towards the latter, it appears. They're certainly air-launched and parachute-landed. Still I think there's a reasonable case that you should call it flight if they are capable of straight level powered flight while the fuel l

Why is it a given that such names are extortionate? Whatever the wisdom (or not) of opening up the top-level hierarchy, there's a place for sites saying things suck. If companies want to engage in the futile enterprise of buying up and

In the real world as it stands, there isn't a 100% probability of ridiculously high costs. Plenty of us will go out with a bang in some way, or at least quietly and quickly. (Perhaps that isn't the utopian ideal). The whole system

That doesn't surprise me, because I already have a Chromecast. And there are many other instances of small cheap computers too, but my point is this: once you've seen a little device that plugs into a TV/monitor and does stuf

Fascinating - do you remember it? (As opposed to being told about it / vague memories-of-memories). Are there any remnants in how you communicate with your twin now?

Just for clarity, genuinely being incapable of taking anything seriously which sounded like a pop culture reference, would indeed be a tremendously damaging flaw. Of course I don't really believe parent poster has that problem: it was

Well done, you've noticed a tremendous character flaw and now you can strive to correct it. Honestly, how are you going to live life if any reminder of pop culture can distract you from a serious subject? And how are you going to inter

The middle ground is small group offices, and many (most?) people are fairly happy there. Actual giant open-plan offices can be distracting beyond what's tolerable.

That's a very good point - Apple's desktop software is definitely not a highlight in the last few years. What's not clear is: (i) how much it matters - the core desktop experience is very solid, and between web browsers and M
