This article is quite interesting with hindsight. When you consider that even though their branded Nexus phones haven't sold amazingly well, but that android as a platform has grown incredibly since the article was written.

I find it quite amusing that they chose Microsoft as a company who has its mojo back, despite the total failure of the Kin and low sales of Windows Phone 7. I don't see how Bing, a search service with low market share that is losing money

I don't know which nook he is referring to, but the Nook Color is an Android tablet basically with their e-reader software installed. Its not quite as clear cut as all that.

They are the kind of things that I would have perceived to be drawbacks were I planning a development platform, but they don't appear to have hurt Android. I suspect that Google's backing might be influential in this regard.
