I'm pretty sure he means "it is an easy equation to memorise, but it's not trivial". People can remember the formula, but have no idea how it actually works.

I'm actually more concerned about the negative (your statement is mostly true), i.e. "if it's in a second-tier journal, it doesn't exist". Sure, some just look for an outlet for their crappy research, but the public

Prestige is a made up concept to keep the big players at the top. If the paper is good then it shouldn't matter where it's published.

I'm a strong python advocate and rarely use for/else for this exact reason. It makes more sense to me for it to be the other way (your way) around. I always add a comment on the else when I do too, to ensure that future readers

Yes, one of the great things about the "don't use your proper name on the internet" was the ability to let go of the past if needed. Much much harder now.

This is the correct answer. When making a concession like this, always take something away. "We can do the website in 6 weeks, but we will have to remove the ability for users to upvote". If that doesn't sit well, send a list

Yeah, I had a mental argument with myself on Nootropics. I was starting to investigate them and just thought "Hold on, you aren't even exercising regularly. Do that first.". I'm sure the gains from moving to regular exer

Would you be upset if Facebook used information about you to choose what to display on your feed? Probably not. What about if they were simply experimenting to see if they could make you happier or more depressed by carefully choosing that

My guess here is that we need to learn more about adding noise to datasets before they go into a neural network. Lots of existing work do alterations like transposing, rotating, flipping and so on. Adding noise, including known attacks, wou

Can't the same be said for Apple or Microsoft? If either company changes its mind, say Apple release an iPhone XL and discontinues tablets, then the older devices will become less supported in the same way.
