Interestingly the picture on the website shows a train car with a container and not with people. I wonder if they are focussing on cargo first and people later? It would seem to make things a lot easier in the beginning, since cargo is much

I thought it was a play on "THIS IS SPARTA!". But copy-pasting seems more like it on second thought.

I would suggest to consider TiddlyWiki instead: It's open source, it is a super simple low-tech solution (it's just one self-contained file) and it comes with built-in encryption. You can additionally just put it in your Dropbox

Ah, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thought this was a joke. I'll repost this on April 1st, I think.

Well, "main reason" may have been a bit of an exaggeration, but yes, I do think Apache's configuration syntax is truly awful. But of course I don't mind all the other awesome features you get by using nginx.

Congrats on shipping! This project looks very interesting already and will hopefully pick up more contributors. Is there already support for configuration files? Because for me the performance isn't the most important issue, in fact th

Thanks for pointing this out. Even though I read Kahneman's "Thinking fast and slow", I did not truly understand that intelligence and rationality are orthogonal concepts. I've always implicitly assumed that intelligence

Mind = blown. That's awesome, I'll have to give this a try. I used to run XMonad on Arch, but then I switched to Ubuntu a couple of years back and got with the Unity program. But if I can have the best of both worlds, I'm sol

I don't really think that's the TLDR, it rather seems to be that memristors are as fast as RAM yet store data permanently, and that using photons to transmit information is faster than copper wires.

Could somebody elaborate how server push relates to web sockets (if at all)? Are they completely independent and will both be supported or does one build on the other? Given that the web is becoming more and more real-time this seems pretty

I actually meant a terminal tab (I'm using Tilda as terminal emulator). I'm only really using the web-based notebook interface when I need to display graphics for something.

IPython already makes for a pretty good bash/zsh/etc replacement for many things. You can get a GUI using the IPython notebooks as well. While I haven't made the switch completely yet, I always keep an IPython session around

Agree that text is being abused in Unix all the time. The problem with passing everything around as text is that you cannot reason about anything, because everything is of the same type. One big advantage of object-based systems is that the

It's a play on the term "syntactic sugar": Too much syntactic sugar leads to syntactic diabetes. And syntactic sugar generally refers to language features that allow you to write things in neater ways. It is always possible t

Well, if you want to do functional programming, as the OP indicated, then Go is not the way to go. Scala seems like a fine choice then, or e.g. Haskell if you want to go all the way.

Yes. In my opinion the biggest win comes from goroutines and Go's runtime, which essentially allow you to write asynchronous non-blocking multi-threaded(!)code that looks like synchronous code and is as easy to read and reason about.
