I feel like this kind of response is a good example of why someone wouldn't talk to others about things.

IIRC, that was only ever a problem for the coyote, though. Source: not a computer vision engineer, but a childhood consumer of looney toons cartoons.

I spent enough time in FAANG and adjacent to realize that some of the senior engineers and directors around me held 4chan/Blind-like beliefs. Some of those folks were cultural leaders in the orgs I belonged to. Some even passed for nic

They wrote "Bush was right wing" (unless it was edited), so what's your point in saying "Many aspects of Bush (assuming GW here) would be considered not in line with America's far-right today." ?

Yes, I meant you were confused about the nature of the comment/question (like you mentioned in a sibling response somewhere). :)

Looks like even OP was confused about it so I guess it wasn't something to be made sense of.

I think they're talking about international travel and not having to go through border control within the Schengen space even though you're traveling to different countries.

There's probably a game to be made out of this called Fleet Wars.

Maybe they meant their provider has it for payment info. That would not be unusual in Europe.

Not OP, and also not sure where I actually stand on this debate because I think your point has a lot of validity to it, but... I think there's also an argument in favor of a person having the right to access their money (and I'd a

This thread is reminding me of Gianmarco Soresi's bit about R Kelly not being a pedophile (technically speaking).

This is what I appreciate about paywalls, subscription modals, etc: there's a clear definition of the "deal", and I can just nope out. "Please enable ads or don't view our content" is also perfect. I don't

Not sure if serious because you're converting from football fields to acres, but the acre is another unit that non-Americans generally don't use.

Agreed. Recent Niri switcher here (from Sway after a brief swing by Cosmic) and I find it surprisingly simple and reliable for its age.

These days it's arguable that F1 needs pit crews because pit stops are the only source of entropy during a race but I (bitterly) digress.

Isn't that story more myth than reality? The history section of the Wikipedia entry for "bug" [1] suggests it predates computers by decades. 1- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bug_(engineering)

I've had three different H1Bs. Yes, transfers are easy, but they're sure a hell more risky than staying at your current job and enduring whatever you have to. You're not beholden to your employer, but you have borderline coer

Altruism is not transactional. If you think the US' "altruism" should buy us goodwill, then you're not for altruism, you're for good PR.

I've not seen them used as precise measurements in France or Portugal. In the US, you buy measuring spoons that have specific sizes (1tbsp is 1/2oz, and 1tsp is 1/3tbsp).
