I kinda get it, but you can say step and stehps, not stayps, so why not krehps? I say it the American way when I speak English anyway because that's just how it is. :)

I'm always amused by some mispronunciations that stray farther away from the original than necessary. My favorite is probably crepe, which Americans pronounce like an almost diphthong-y craype (or crape like grape I guess) when crep (l

I love how aggressive capitals feel to me no matter the intent or tone. This comment is just so much, all by virtue of caps lock.

> Because you people are cracking your eggs from the wrong end! That's because both ends are wrong. Eggs should be cracked from the side. Can't believe this still needs to be said on this forum in 2026.

Isn't that what's described in the article as well?

The preference can also be set by women drivers not to accept men as riders, so I don't think your example fully covers it either.

I'm French and the meaning is similar to what OP described in French "European".

Well, thought I'd fixed the configure typo and now it's too late. But obviously, I meant confiture.

My experience with reporting stuff to mods is that people who post racist stuff do get banned but I also think there's a difference between holding opinions I consider based in racism or having racist outcomes (which I don't repor

That may actually have been me accidentally downvoting as I was scrolling through with my clumsy thumb. Double whammy, I guess, because I also always downvote comments asking (or complaining) about a parent comment getting downvoted.

I very much agree. The number of comments I see complaining about "it's not this, it's that" and other "LLMisms" definitely frustrates me more than the original content.

But... US folks call jam jam too. Jam and jelly aren't the same. At least, in France we'd also have the difference between configure and gelée.

The "I take full responsibility" thing has been entirely meaningless. I guess it's supposed to convey that it's not the laid-off folks' fault, and that it was "his decision", but as you said: "taking

What part of Zen's UX does Firefox need to learn from? I used Zen for a while (and Arc before that). I didn't get what was particularly novel about either. My browsing did not feel revolutionized. What have I not been getting? Edi

I'm confused. The poll shows ages 45-64 had the highest percentage of Trump voters (54%). Is that not confirming that Gen X (1965-1980, so ages 44-59 in 2024) was the most pro-Trump?

I don't get how having "random" things change opening hours is any better than changing clocks. I'm not a parent, but I can imagine that if some of my schedule had to change by 30 minutes some months out of the year, I&#

This feels like a corollary to Cunningham's law. "The best way to get someone to read something is to post a TL;DR that seems like it can't be right."

I used Kagi for several months, I guess I'd at least recommend trying it out. I stopped using it, though, and I can't honestly say I've missed it. It was nice not having sponsored results, I guess, but overall it didn't
