I think the final straw for me was when I saw people saying they were getting better results by writing some parts of the prompts in all caps. I just don't wanna deal with any of this.

Lyon's had one for 30 years but I wouldn't classify subways and trains as the same thing. I presume trains above ground have more likelihood of something unexpected on the tracks, and less control over the environment.

I like them depending on contexts. At a party they'd probably feel weird, but in any sort of meeting/get together/tour where time allows, I find them useful.

I'm French and it apparently took more than four decades for me to TIL that we have our own Gruyère. I always assumed we were just calling Emmental the wrong thing. Then again most of what we call Gruyère is a somewhat industrialized s

I kinda love that someone who wrote that article was like "this needs a table for clarity!"

I'm a Dodgers fan and I'm kinda confused by your take that the Dodgers roster is different from the 2023 Mets or current Yankees. If anything, the Blue Jays are the example, not the Dodgers.

How're you finding the 9070XT? Are you gaming in 4K and/or with freesync?

My anecdata is that the households I know that have desktops are gamers, yes, but: - the desktops in question tend to be "exclusively" used by one member of the household - the desktop owners usually also have a laptop - the deskt

The "conspiracy theory" I buy into the most is that all these new TLDs are primarily motivated by the revenue of forcing every corp to register their equivalent domain. Love that your company leaned into it for that purpose.

Best take in this thread. The jump forward doesn't even necessarily feel that huge but the step backward is (annoyingly) noticeable.

This is exactly why I went to 4K. Used to have a 27" 2560x1440 monitor at home. Got a 4K 27" at work, and when I got home, the difference was big enough that I (eventually) decided to upgrade the home monitor.

I'm with you, but I guess users don't care (and I really don't get it). None of the mobile finance apps I've used even have half the reporting ability I want (presumably because users don't care, and not because it

Maybe the weird part was our generation getting obviously lied to by marketing and being like "this is fine"? Maybe we shouldn't have been so accepting of long lists of asterisks/footnotes in ads or ToCs that invalidate

I don't care how many rubies I have, except for disk space, which I clean up regularly, so it's a bit moot. I actually don't look at the package names either as much as I look at the number of hashes, which I find easy to ey

It made sense to me when I looked at it, at mount points, at when it changed vs when it didn't, etc, so IDK what to tell you. FWIW, I'm also pretty sure I'm human. Edit: also, I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't find it

The package name is "secondary" information in this context. The hash is the primary one because it's stable unless the input changes. The semantic is "what did this configuration generate", not "what's th

I graduated high school almost 30 years ago so whether I'm from the US or not isn't particularly relevant. I did live in the US for 25 years though, and up to however many minutes ago, I didn't know these classes were a requi

3M copies in 3 months is more than 10M in a year (if you assume sustained sales). I don't get what the numbers are supposed to imply.

Didn't Astral get created out of uv (and other tools), though? Isn't it fair for the creators to try and turn it into a sustainable job? Edit: or was it ruff? Either way. I thought they created the tools first, then the company.

I don't get particularly annoyed by it, and I'm definitely more annoyed by the people who complain about it and/or reply with just the link to that "no hello" URL.
