Building my Linux distribution from scratch takes about an hour on a modern system from top-level ./configure && make -j5 (which produces the installer ISO image), a great deal of the time, however, is spent in first building

I'm a distro maker (closed source Linux distribution) and I don't use systemd, as doing so would add significant non-determinism to what is an otherwise deterministic process.

If you want no CVEs you could use my web server filed[0]. It's really fast. And written in C. ;-) Of course, it doesn't support HTTPS or HTTP/2, so... there's that. [0] http://filed.rkeene.org/

It just posts an encrypted json blob to a CGI script that waits for another connection with the same ID. The script then connects those two connections so that anything one sends the other receives using a FIFO, so no disk involved and the

I solved it in WebPass[0] by encoding the constraints for special (i.e., not generic) sites into rules associated with a unique ID, then only valid password are considered. https://webpass.rkeene.org/

You can check its health by making a request to a known resource -- they're practically free. It delivers an ETag header that it computes the first time it opens a file and maintains as long as that file is open. If it has to re-open

Completely shameless plug here: My webserver[1] will outperform nginx for serving up static content like this. It has many optimizations, like not opening the file its serving (which reduces the latency of walking/interacting with the

This is a common misconception. The GOPHER protocol (RFC 1436) does not actually require the use of opposable thumbs, it's just a common implementation detail to do so.

To go along with this, due to overloading and inheritance rules you cannot look at a small section of C++ code and determine what it does without reading up to the entire program.

hunter2 makes multiple users a first class principle. Anyone that has access to decrypt a password can add other users to that password, in the future if that password is updated all users that have access retain the new password

Similar to "pass" is "hunter2" ( https://chiselapp.com/user/rkeene/repository/hunter2/ ) which uses a hardware security module such as a smartcard to decrypt the password and allows s

Unless you are very particular about the commands added, most configurations end up being equivariant to ALL. Some examples I've seen: ip, less, vi, tar, cp, mv, mount, chmod, chown, zip, mysql, dd, ... Any of those and many many more

hunter2 supports the concept of users, which are named public keys so I can share individual passwords with other users. One of those other users can be a different smartcard or a different person who can then authorized my new card.
