I agree that Tcl isn't mainstream and thus a lot of concepts used by Tcl are not mainstream, but other than that it's got a lot going for it. Tcl's string representation for objects is just a serialization/deserializatio

No problem. I wrote it because I version control my scripts and didn't want to fork them for running them on my laptop (Chromebook with Termux).

Tcl meets all of these requirements. I have a Linux distribution whose PID 1 is a Tcl shell and I can setup everything from there without spawning any new processes.

It now also does rewriting on the fly for certain shebang lines, as part of its C library, so unmodified scripts can run.

There is definitely nothing that prevents another applet (JavaCard, not PKCS#11 -- that's just a generic interface) from running on smartcards currently running the EMV applet. Or any other smartcard from running more than one applet

This already exists. If EMV specified an X.509 certificate instead of a proprietary one, then we could be doing card-present transactions over the Internet right now thanks to TLS client certificates.

A "Little Snitch"-like system for Linux would be pretty easy to develop without these changes as well. I've thought about building such a tool, but never really had the need or saw the point over my existing workflows. I did

It still is, there are hundreds of contributors and a new release (Tcl v8.6.8) came out 22-DEC-2017. There are plans for a new major release, Tcl 9, as well. Tcl still has many unique features that other languages lack. One new highly exp

Kernel Live Patching (KLP) has been in mainline since 4.4. I've used it to patch various flaws in my Linux distribution since rebooting the running cluster is more tedious.

The HP Visualize C3000 is a PA-RISC 2.0 system (2x 400MHz processors). I still build a cross-compiler toolchain for HP-UX PA-RISC 2.0 long-mode (64-bit address mode).

HP-UX is still alive until 2025 apparently. I used on my workstation for a while (an HP Visualize C3000) in the 90s -- it was my first 64-bit workstation. It's not great.

Client certificates are a mandatory feature of TLS that any TLS server could request and the proxy would be unable to handle the request, as it (and ideally the client) has no access to the private key. Therefore, these types of proxies b

But the web servers on the other side of the TLS connection are not managed by those same system administrators and therefore they will not accept certificates provided by such proxies, breaking TLS.

This still breaks TLS, since it will fail with client-supplied certificates and so can't be used if you need to support TLS.
