I came here to say something like this is way easier. I have a script which does exactly this for an interactive SSH across a large number of hosts [0] (with -S, shell mode). [0] https://rkeene.org/viewer/tmp/nete

It was written by the author of SQLite, which is basically a Tcl extension that escaped into the wild. There's a talk by DRH at the Tcl 2019 Conference regarding Wapp [0]. [0] https://youtu.be/Aq4NI5NTUpU time code 1:4

Indeed that is true that for most cases WiFi can do the things users want. My note was that not everything you can do with Ethernet frames can be converted to WiFi frames. One such example is Ethernet multicast.

Since not all IEEE 802.1 Ethernet frames can be converted to IEEE 802.11 frames using the Linux bridging infrastructure isn't sufficient (even though it can do fancy things like bridge non-Ethernet and Ethernet interfaces; Like bridgin

Not every IEEE 802.1 Ethernet frame can be converted to an IEEE 802.11 WiFi frame. To do that you would need some type of tunnel to the Ethernet fabric.

The difference is really just that the ASN.1 tag really just contains the data type, with limited application-level space to describe it. JSON/XML let you us an arbitrary string to "tag" data. ASN.1, on the other hand, has m

You might want to try filed ! This was for serving MPEG4-TS files with, IIRC, H.264 video and MPEG-III audio streams -- nothing fancy -- from a server running a container living on a disk attached via USB/1.1. While USB/1.1 has en

I can go over it -- I should note that I like ASN.1 (as described by X.690). As part of a project where I needed to parse X.509 certificates I wrote a simple ASN.1 -> X.509 parser which does the mapping in place. This can be found at [0

filed [0] is written to be readable, and stateless, and runs from a chroot, and has no configuration file. It doesn't run from xinetd and it's multi-threaded, though. I wrote it because no other web server could serve files fast

This is why running this (completely trivial) service yourself is helpful -- you can get the external IP from the perspective you desire.

Tcl tends to get used in weird places, and is stable so has a high sticky-ness.

If you're interested in getting more quickly and WANT to write software, you can have the Raspberry Pi control most televisions over HDMI-CEC using libcec [0], and then you just need the voice recognition stuff mentioned above (Rhasspy

Point #4 is particularly salient since it seems like telemetry information for a CLI-based tool which monitors the user's keystrokes doesn't provide the user any advantages.

I've never understood the desire to control systems by speaking to them in code words. Speaking monopolizes a shared channel, requires diverting your conversation, and is really slow. For practically anything that involves using code

As an example of this, the SQLite bug tracker [0] is closed for submissions from non-developers (or some set of trusted people), and instead the SQLite forum [1][2] is used to discuss possible bugs. [0] https://www.sqlite.org

Step 1 is to buy a reader, any reader which is ISO 7816 compliant is fine. Next, buy a smart card. The most famous brand I can think of right now is Gemalto, but there are lots of options. You can buy them in quantities of 1 extremely che

I think the universe is slowly standardizing on WebAuthn/U2F for this. The US Government got rid of passwords in 2004 by switching to smartcards, and Google also did so in 2017 by switching to hardware security tokens.

I think we should move away from passwords entirely, the UX for that is often much better for users (and as a bonus, you don't need to worry about your password being compromised, or password managers).

A useful thing to do when forking software is to give it a new name, to make it clear that it's a separate thing. It sounds like you copied some specific version of software you depend on, then forked it, but left the name the same --

If the author is around, the one thing I would ask for is a release so that it can be reasonably added to package repositories.
