Exactly. The tomatoes out of my non-organic plot taste identical to the ones out of my organic plot - and both beat store bought by a mile.

What you are saying is scientifically false. As in: there is no evidence this is true, and the opposite has in fact been demonstrated. It may FEEL like you're getting more nutrients - but you aren't. You are getting fewer traces of pestic

There's nothing wrong with you buying first-world, boutique food. Buy hydroponic vegetables if you want. You are not the problem: there aren't that many of you. The problem is that new age extremism has vilified Borlaug, and the very Gree

The opposite is true: kids in big cities live near their school, generally, while suburban kids - owing to sprawl, are more spread out.

No, but it is driven by external pressures, which we could apply to artificial consciousness by hacking it :) Ok, artificial selection - but no reason we couldn't game it to be genetic.

Of course I'm talking about those subset of problems which are CPU bound and also use huge data. As to why streaming is slow: I don't know. It just is. Check it out. C++ streaming performance is the pits.

Actually, plenty of guys use Hadoop for CPU bound problems. And the fastest way to use it this way is Java, which is what the number crunching users of Hadoop use. Which is to say that the emerging big data compute platform is Java. Which

Hahaha, I don't know anyone who bootstrapped a startup to serious cash since 2002 in Atlanta, PERIOD - and I've looked really hard, talked to everyone in town - let alone that did it and kept a family.

Holy crap man, that is the most beautiful design, with the most clarity that I've just about ever seen on the web. Reminds me of a friend's Atlanta startup, http://ezprints.com/ It scaled pretty well.

A recent quote from a local VC: I've never known an entrepreneur to bootstrap a business to a big win who's marriage survived doing so. Which is what made me leave Atlanta for Silicon Valley.

You're correct - because for what you get for that 20%, it is very small :) And if you'll notice, Java smoked the gcc C benchmark. By more than 20% :) Most 'managed language' programmers are happy to give up way more than 20% for the bene
