The first Smalltalk JIT was written for the 68020, so the NeXT hardware would have been suitable. EDIT: OTOH, The Tektronix AI Workstations had already been on sale for a while by that point and had not been all that successful. They ran Sm

Westinghouse has made nuclear submarine reactors. The UK small modular reactor project is being run by Rolls-Royce who make the equivalent submarine reactors. Both SMR projects seem to be about 10x the power output of a submarine reactor. I

I wrote a networked hypertext system in 1985 but it used a binary "page" format to save bandwidth. The GUI used was GEM. Another road not taken could have been to define a rich text format in ASN.1 and build a browser on top of th

You can put any size of M.2 SSD you want into the Pinebook Pro. The RAM limit is down to the SoC itself, the next generation laptop would probably use a RK3588 which can address more RAM.

In the UK, supermarkets have bins for recycling plastic bags. Not just shopping bags, plenty of plastic packaging is labelled "recycle at supermarket".

Seems sensible, wish they did that here so I didn't have to keep moving dirty bags between bins. I recycle correctly but one apartment in the block is being used as an AirBnB, every week there is random waste in every recycling bin.
