I got 500Mb/s symmetrical fibre installed last month. Not seeing much faster transfer rates from individual servers, I'm guessing most do some traffic shaping. Edit: mistyped G instead of M.

Or people just haven't tried hard enough to find a politically correct explaination. I think slavery itself could be one cause of it. Restricting the freedom to pick a partner of one group compared with other nearby groups seems likely

The reviewed machine has more RAM than a Pinebook Pro but the user experience doesn't sound to be nearly as good. I recently went on a work trip with my Pinebook Pro as my only computer, everything worked fine.

Go makes syscalls directly, it doesn't call through the system libc. This does cause support problems on at least NetBSD, don't know what happens on FreeBSD or OpenBSD. The NetBSD backwards compatibility mechanism is to not change

This is a Linux problem not a SBCL one. You could move your SBCL binary between different versions of a BSD variant.

NetBSD currently contains an older version of this driver, from Linux 5.6. Checking just now it comes to 2.2M loc. Running the same test on the Linux 6.4 source tree, does give me the reported 5M loc. Maybe the figures you quote exclude thi

I have a few people in my killfile so that I don't see messages from them but don't get much spam in the comp.* groups that I read. The threading and only seeing new messages is a lot better in my Usenet client than any web forum

NetBSD doesn't have any support for running without a MMU, so by definition you can only port it to things designed to be able to run UNIX.
