How does the Mac have extremely strong vendor lock-in? Sure, you can use the App Store and use all the stuff that integrates with iPhone, iCloud, etc But you can also just treat it as Linux for Laptops (that actually works), and roll with a

A larger vehicle is more of a hazard to others than a smaller vehicle, and the safety features you describe don't change that. But, as you're in Australia, I'm not sure your definition of "large" matches the story&#

An added wrinkle is that parts of British Columbia use other timezones. The southeast corner follows Alberta time (previously MST/MDT but changing to MDT). Parts of the northeast and iirc a few other communities (eg Creston) have histo

I have used Blender just a bit, but it was very jarring when I first opened it and discovered that it has its own menu bar within the window, rather than at the top of the screen. It has its own save/open window rather than using the s

Java stagnated for quite a while. Seemed like everyone was stuck on Java 6 for about a decade. But JDK8 was a huge step forward. Lambdas, streams, and a date/time API that is the best I've seen.

A Mac Neo would be great. But for now, Intel N150 mini PCs are probably a better choice than RPi for those types of tasks.

I disagree. The camera bump was functional pragmatism winning out over Jony Ive's increasingly form-driven ideals. Even the Jobs Reality Distortion Field couldn't alter physics.

That must have been a expensive piece of gear at the time. In the mid-to-late 80s, my school still had a lab of 10 or so PETs. All connected to the same dual floppy unit. I remember the teacher would tell half the class to save their work,

New Mac customers, perhaps. But new Apple customers? The vast majority of Neo buyers almost certainly already have an iPhone.

I don't think so. For most people in the Apple ecosystem, the iPhone is central and the Neo is another useful (but secondary) companion device. Not unlike the Watch and Airpods.

Or put the dock on the right side of the screen. In my experience, 13.3" MBA is fine for many applications. A little smaller (eg 12.5") might still be usable. 11" would not work with current MacOS.

Even the 128k was reasonably successful commercially. Hundreds of thousands of units sold, which was quite good for the time. Inflation-adjusted, it cost quite a bit more than the Vision Pro. They sold the same model with very minor revisio
