"Truck reverses into stationary object" is not really news. I think there are too many possible risks of programming the vehicle to do anything except stop dead in an emergency situation - you rapidly get into very complex program

It's because Apple won't let you do in app purchases that don't use their payments system, and if you use their payments system, they take a 30% cut. But we are talking about Google / Android, not Apple / iOS here.

Just delete the PATENTS file. There is nothing that says you can't do that, and you then have a plain BSD licensed project.

Never swipe before entering your PIN. If you do that, they can clone a card for use in ATMs, and withdraw your money as untraceable cash. Connecting via the chip does not reveal enough information to reconstruct a magnetic strip for an ATM

It would be in the firmware. It should be possible to hack a printer with open source firmware. You could even make a printer with open source hardware - something like this, but higher resolution: https://www.youtube.com/wa

That should be in the title of the article. "Safety incidents at Tesla plant were 31% higher than industry average in 2015". Without the 31% higher, you'd expect a 50-50 chance of being above or below the average. 31% higher

This article annoys me. "YouTube makes $9 billion in annual revenues, but artists earn more from the sales of vinyl records than online streaming" It's a useless comparison. Perhaps the vinyl industry is worth more than $9 bi

Why would Eric Yip be publicising his strategy? I suggest that it is because by encouraging others to short or sell their holdings in CBMX 6, after he has already shorted it, the value will go down and he will gain. People jumping on his ba

How about a video of my kids with my Mum who has come to visit? Uploading and downloading the file to a cloud service will take a while. Many will reencode the video and loose quality. I then have to communicate a URL, rather than have my m

Compared to what? You can improve accuracy by optimising the way you do your calculations. A really trivial example: 10000 + .00001 - 10000 is less accurate than 10000 - 10000 + .00001. Without interval arithmetic, you can't easily mea

More important than just increasing accuracy is knowing how much accuracy you have. With interval artihmetic, you keep an upper and lower bound of every calculation, and use the the appropriate floating point rounding modes when you manipul
