Really pleased to see these up so quickly. I was very jealous of all of the people tweeting from Clojure/West and was expecting to have to wait a month or two for the videos to show up gradually on InfoQ. The ClojureScript stuff in p

But I know how to write a for loop in 15 different languages, and all of those other solutions work differently! If I have a problem that I can solve with a for loop, I should probably just use a for loop and move on to bigger problems, ra

"Worse is better" can easily be separated from that context, though I would admit that most people do it incorrectly. "Worse is better" is, ultimately, an argument against perfectionism. Many of the features of Unix cou

I took his post as a fairly standard "worse is better" argument. Many newer or more fashionable languages enable some very elegant programming styles, but this comes with a concern about the elegance of one's code, which c

I'm a vaguely left-libertarian-ish person, so my view on gay marriage is that I cannot see a reason why it should not be allowed and, beyond that, it's pretty much none of my business. But I do find it difficult to draw a line at

This is all true, but is there not a possibility that Eich having invented one of the world's most popular programming languages might out-weigh these factors in the minds of people who are evaluating whether they'd like to work w

The person who wrote this appears to be fantastically ignorant - they do not seem to know the difference between code that is on Github and code that is written by Github employees. This is akin to believing that everything you receive

The problem with management isn’t managers, the problem with management is bad managers. So, on the one hand, we have what we might call the Lord of the Flies narrative - that Github's pseudo-anarchic non-management just enables pe

I agree to disagree about this. To me, luxury is "opulence, luxuriousness, sumptuousness, grandeur, magnificence, splendor, lavishness, the lap of luxury, a bed of roses", and I don't associate those with typical developers.

To play devil's advocate for a moment, we should also remember that sometimes (not always, but sometimes) people do have a choice in what they're offended by, and how they react to those feelings of offence. A lot of the people
