Very nice, congrats to the Liz team :) The new `const` and RAII/resource scope language features remind me of the golang discussion yesterday, someone linked Pike saying JS/TS, C++, Hack, etc keep borrowing features from each othe

what do you mean? docker for Mac uses xhyve, which uses Hypervisor.framework aka “kvm”. wsl1 had a wine-style syscall shim but they switched to virtualization too for wsl2.

Yeah, the heterogeneity. Having to figure out whether to use sbuild, pbuilder, cowbuilder, or that one that does it in a fakeroot, the debian wiki pages on these tools are quite dense and it’s hard to tell which info is 15 years out of date

As a big debian fan who runs it on everything... apt works great, yeah, but packaging itself is a nightmare. Try to source patch one of your packages and rebuild it, and maybe distribute it internally. It’s a mess. Haven’t used Arch but e.g

I wonder why most ergonomic keyboards have the halves pointed in, so your hands are like /\, rather than V. When I used a Freestyle I greatly preferred the V shape, quite spread apart, to reduce pectoral tightness.

Yes exactly, FLOPS vs FLOPs/FLOP’s, there’s no unawkward way to write it but it’s almost always obvious from context.

Wow, talk about Baader Meinhof. I’ve spent the last few days hacking out a FOSS Mathematica impl + jupyter kernel, and I’m trying to keep as much of the semantics and stdlib as possible defined inside the interpreted runtime, so I can have

As someone who learned python first - the idea that `myfn(@xs)` would call `myfn(1,2,3)` is... unnerving. Implicitly splicing in arguments makes me wonder what other kind of syntactic oddities are going over my head in my code.
