I worked with a great Nigerian dev some years ago. He contracted for us to do our frontend work. The stories this dude told were insane. He lived in Lagos, notorious for traffic jams. He would frequently get stuck in multi-hour long traf

Rest assured you still seem ridiculous to me. You choose to use an exclusionary and proprietary messaging protocol, and then ostracize people who prefer not to spend an absurd amount of money on a phone. Your gripes are absurd and self in

It's not super addictive to me currently. When I was a youth I used to great excess and it eventually drove me to using harder drugs - one of which, xanax, or alprazolam, nearly ruined my life. I had to take anti-psychotics for years

I actually did this...I got two dedicated circuits put into my room - one for the window unit AC (no point in cooling the whole house when I really just need to cool this room most of the time), and one for my gaming computer. My work lapt

It would cost a shitload. Morgan City would have to be build up tremendously, since that is likely where the bulk of the flow would end up, through the Atchafalaya river, basin, and delta. New Orleans and Baton Rouge would see one of the m

I have to ask, do you listen to Sam Harris' podcast? His last two episodes have touched on both aspects of your post - the paradigmatic shift that can occur simply by changing the perspective from which you view something as simple as

New Orleans even being able to continue existing at all is due to the Army Corps Of Engineers. The Old River Control Structure keeps it from flooding too hard, and a LOT of resources go into keeping the river along its current route so tha

I think what they mean is in general, resources. Like funding and willing workers to help if it was a viable career path to actually help society. Not that there are currently enough resources deployed in such a way as to help them all.
