The code itself isn’t the only risk factor; it’s weighted by others, like discoverability, which are asymmetric in time. If the white hats fix an issue in version n+1, they’re going to make sure people know. If black hats (or normal devs ma

React lets you build DOM with normal JavaScript loops and .map; solid requires its own For element. How do you define “does not fight against js”? Because the above feels likes solid fighting against js.

rust has parametric polymorphism, it just calls it generics—and traits correspond to ocaml signatures. These aren't useful juxtapositions.

The question of "what would make you change jobs" seems super-prone to social desirability bias—and the author does nothing to control for that. Does anyone have links to research that does ?

I agree. That one can e.g. lift every binary operator at once with just a few lines of code makes even python overloading feel heavy—but readers can still understand it easily. My point isn't that "D doesn't meet that bar&quo

Kudos to the author for calling out Haskell's String—but the problems run deeper than defaults. For example: if you're not aware of strictness, you can easily wring poor performance out of the "good" types like Text and

I’ll gladly grant that the mutable date types of pre-jdk8 Java were ugly APIs, but you’re still missing my point here: the LocalDate class was added in the same release as Instant was—it’s not a worse Instant, it’s solving a different probl

Why are you blaming a class called “LocalDate” for not giving you global timestamps? The java doc for the class has an entire paragraph on how it is not a time. If you want to model a specific instant in time, use Instant.
