I don’t have as much time as I used to, to do this, but I try to give the whole magazine a flip at least once, every month. Blogger needs to take some time, to learn proper comma use, and then rethink this sentence.

Just apologize for the comment, man. You're not going to change anyone's mind with a childish rant like this.

I actually had to scroll up to the banner to make sure I was still on Hacker News and not reddit.

I always thought that #2 was illustrated very well by the Ship of Theseus paradox ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_of_Theseus ).

I would agree with you if the colors were against a dark background. But as it is, dark colors contrast more with the white/gray background, and thus get visual priority over the light colors.

What in particular do you find unpleasant about Objective-C? I find it quite a nice language to work with, actually.

Based on the buzz around this game, it seems that the answer is yes.

Replace "engineers" here with occupation x, and this statement will be true from the viewpoint of every x in the world. I have been in companies where engineers with questionable managerial/leadership skills were elevated to top positions.

Do people seriously fall for scams like this? There are two glaring red flags in this scenario that were completely lost on the author: 1) The coincidence of someone finding the necklace and another person phoning in about it while the firs

Great, another geeky blog rant offering no substantiation or content to speak of. As a mac user, I have to agree with his premise, though. It might be a different story for Windows users.

So where are we now with physics, anyway? Converging on some kind of math/philosophy hybrid? Seems like as time goes by, these theories and constructs become more elaborate and abstract, which makes it ever less likely that we'll have the c

I guess that's part of my objection, really. The use of the word "universe" implies that there is only one of them, as the prefix "uni-" in Latin means "one".

If I recall correctly, the "universe" is a concept meant to encompass all that exists. How then can there be multiple universes? Wouldn't the set of all universes itself exist within the universe? It seems more likely to me that "universe"

I'm not saying that one person taking on an extreme high risk endeavor is strange. Happens all the time. What's strange is that such a huge cluster of people are doing it. The anomaly is the multiplicity of the occurrence, not the occurrenc

I don't see anything inherently wrong , really. It's just strange that, given the point of starting a business is to make money, there would be so many businesses out there running along seemingly without much concern as to revenue. If you

This is the modus operandi for basically every web 2.0 company. I think never before in history has there been such a large number of businesses springing up and carrying on blithely with no idea how they're going to make money.

I realize that Facebook gets enormous amounts of traffic, and so requires the resources for scaling/high availability and all that. But how in the world have they gone through most of $500 million? What the hell are they doing over there?
