Swift recently adopted a region-based approach for safe concurrency that builds on Milano et al’s ideas (shared co-author as well): https://github.com/apple/swift-evolution/blob/main/proposals...

It’s probably designed to recognize a very specific code pattern in SPEC, so it’s very unlikely to affect any other code. If it wasn’t so hyper targeted to only kick in for those two benchmarks, then there’d be no issue: it’d just be a comm

When did it become illegal to take features away from a products or create derivative products with different features? The “spirit of the law” most certainly is not what you’re imagining. If they wanted, they could remove the App Store fro

That 7T to replace future people’s jobs could also go to producing the people to do those jobs. But I guess it’s too hard to make money investing in people.

The point is that you have to lock in a source of power while in use. There is no battery in the device and you’re meant to move around while using it! The other end is a special plug that locks yet can spin around so you can move the bat

It’s a power cable that locks on both ends so it doesn’t come loose and cause the device to shut off. Why does a USB-C plug matter, when no one has a locking USB-C cable anyway?

You can’t just call it “collateral damage” for the sake of avoiding the label of genocide while you’re murdering, starving, and barbarically destroying a society of millions of innocent people.

> The give away for Genocide is that there are mass graves, which in Gaza there are not. The rubble of the numerous civilian homes and buildings you've leveled are the mass graves.

Whether runtime generated or downloaded from the internet, you cannot run instructions directly on the processor without requesting executable virtual pages in memory from the OS. Executable pages are also a major security vulnerability: h

It's "non-trivial" to switch to driving a 18-wheeler truck, or stick-shift transmission, or that funky wheel thing in Teslas, which don't support the same software that other car infotainment systems do. You can't f

That is voting in a modern democracy. You put your eggs into Android, iOS, and/or one of the less popular candidates. Or you don’t get into the mobile space at all. Just because you don’t like the options doesn’t mean it’s not voting.

That 15-30% going to Apple isn’t going to go back to app users. Don’t pretend this is all about developers wanting to give users a discount.

Apple provides the OS and SDKs developers need to make their app function at all. Users do not care how much it costs a developer. They want it to be easy to see and cancel subscriptions all in one place. The web’s myriad of payment systems
