Here's the big differentiation that the now still beta and invite-only Google Domains could take on: assign free wildcard SSL certificate for every domain registered/transferred there.

It's from the same author who made Mosh, a mobile shell/SSH replacement that will keep you sane with high latency/lossy connections to your servers.

As for all the too-good-to-be-true Xiaomi products, you have to enter a lottery draw before you can actually buy one. The chance of winning is pretty slim.

If you only share state by passing messages you should be fine. The challenge is to make sure the "only" part. Erlang's reduction-based scheduling basically counts how many steps each process has executed, and automatically s

Shared state is bad because it breaks local reasoning. Without enforcing certain disciplines (i.e. always sharing by passing messages via Go channels) it's hard, if not impossible, to reason about local behaviors without considering ot

I'm not sure if it's just me, but after years of writing Python code with various async I/O libs and then used Go for a while, it felt so much better when the language/runtime handles async I/O for me and I do not h

Linode's shortest billing cycle is one month. If I use the CLI to create a linode and do something computation then delete it, am I still billed for a full month?

I'm wondering how many people near the border have access to computers that can read those DVDs and USB drives? The article did mention that “DVDs, USBs, and even laptops are making their way over the Chinese border into the hands of N

What about adopting a subscription model? Let's say $10/IP/year. We are already doing this for an effectively infinite name space (domain names). The very limited IPv4 name space should be more expensive, right?

So effectively for the the same price you get an inferior hardware/design which breaks more often but gets replaced for free. I don't understand how this is better?

I use the same approach. The only unfortunately side effect of doing so is that I have to deal with spams targeting at randomly generated addresses at my domain. Luckily Gmail's spam filter finishes most of them after some training.
