Chrome is IE of browsers now. 20+ years ago nobody cared about non-IE, today nobody cares about non-Chrome.

I liked the idea (I think it was from Semler's book, but may also be from 37signals), that meetings are always optional. If you have organised a meeting and nobody came, it just means that no one saw any value in it.

I am not even sure it aims. It aims to make the team look "professional" or something. Given that at most organisations the biggest problem always turns out to be communication, stand-ups are probably thought to be a remedy, but i

I hate doing stuff that I see no point in. Especially if it wastes time.

This comes so close to "does your actual work hurt your stand-ups"?

So if the point is to gather and declare "no update" maybe there is no point, really? And if you have something else than "no update", why not to share it with relevant persons only, at any convenient time?

Yes, it is like flying a toy drone in your room vs. flying a drone on the Mars. In the first case if you see it heading into the wall you can correct it immediately. On the Mars it may be already too late when you find out it is heading int

Either I missed it or it does not mention "posting too fast" feature, which is very annoying, because if you commented on something you can be restricted from commenting on another, unrelated topic.

Scrolling lists is the first thing that comes to mind when I see someone proclaiming that PWAs will run the world soon, and everything will be based on web tech. iPhone SDK has this from the very beginning. With data sources, delegates, reu

I have a suspicion that most vocal notch haters are not even users of Apple products. Notch on iPhone? It is in the status bar anyway, so mostly does not matter. Notch on a mac? Same. Right now I have just an empty space in the center of th

Take one of the "pro" markets—photographers. They sure have to deal with SD cards, and they often shoot tethered, which almost always means HDMI connection.

I just saw an (internal) presentation where presenter predicted that in a few coming months we will see a lot more RxJS being used in ReactJS projects. Cannot wait to see it included on webpages which would be just fine with zero JS.

In Lithuanian we also have "mėlynas" for blue, and "žydras" for light blue. They both are commonly used to describe the sky. Curiously enough, our neighbours Latvians have "melnais" which looks similar to our &

I think even DX-wise we are painting ourselves into corner. First it is "hey, I know web tech, let's use it for anything". Then it is "hey, that's a bit complicated, let's make a framework". Then "hey

Smoking is a good example. My country has quite bad COVID numbers both in number of cases and deaths. Yet: in one and a half years of pandemic fewer than 4500 people died from COVID. About 6000 die each year from smoking-related diseases.
