I'm not bothered about my phone standing out. The 6 and later models are actually big enough for me to hold properly and read text on, without holding them up to my face. I first bought an iPhone when the 6(s) came out.

It's also childcare for working parents. I know it's not supposed to be but it's a side effect that's widely taken for granted. I believe you're correct about young people being turned into debt slaves. The rich and

I don't know if your heel touching the ground first is the same thing as what you're describing. I usually run as a 'midfoot' but I sometimes let my heel touch the ground first. I don't drop my weight onto it, thoug

As much as I dislike proprietary protocols, I'd be greatly in favour of Apple deciding to make a replacement for Bluetooth that works with all their products - and Just Works. It'd be no use to me, as my only Apple product current

I shifted to Twitter for a while and eventually kicked that too. I get the HN daily digest email and generally only visit the links from that, though there are exceptions when I'm looking for something interesting over morning coffee (

Same answer as always: It just works. While we're here and speaking of consumer offerings: Has anyone found a satisfactory solution to displaying photos from Dropbox on their TV? Everything I try is clunky.

Lots of talk about performance, but no numbers cited. I did my own benchmarks before using sequential ("COMB") GUIDs as 'PRIMARY KEY' (yes, they're surrogate keys) and found no material performance difference. I did

Has anyone any code they can show which performs the same job on both and is close to comparing apples to apples? It'd be interesting to me, not for performance comparison, but as a real world application structure comparison, a kind o

I had high hopes there, but I don't see an app, I just see enough boilerplate to put a <span>Hello, world!</span> into the DOM, which could have been done by just writing that into HTML. I can understand what it's

Last time I mentioned having switched away from Vim due to its plugins not giving the functionality I get elsewhere, the reaction was not good. As with the parent comment, somehow it was my fault, as I'd failed to update to the latest

When I'm working on performance, I measure twice and cut once. I know measuring is 'hard' as there's a lot of code optimised for x86 in VS, but saying 'It would be slower built for 64 bit' is cutting before mea
