My neighbor runs a washing machine repair business in a suburban neighborhood in Alpharetta, Georgia. He seems to stay very busy. This is a fairly affluent area so its not that people can't afford to buy new appliances (on average).

A friend of mine worked as a private investigator for years after his dream of entering law enforcement didn't pan out. His job was mostly investigating insurance claims. He would actually drive his car and park near the home of the cl

No one remembers the former generations, and even those yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow them. So yeah, it really doesn't matter.

Just built a new Linux workstation the day after Christmas with a 4.2 Ghz i7. In hindsight I should have bought a AMD Ryzen! Glad the computer I built my dad was an AMD.

Along the lines of this. Anyone in the industry, why do they not cross reference the street addresses of their current subscribers and reduce the promotional mailing list or mail relevant promotions? Maybe it seems cheaper to do it this way

I actually fully intend to buy one of these for everyone in my company someday. As a Christmas present. Beats the heck out of just getting the company shirt and coffee mug.

Yes. We have to sign for purchases over $25 at retail. It's like the signature on the bottom of the check. If there is a fraud claim they'll trot out the signature as one of the evidences and compare to the card holders - at least

Absolute rubbish! For a company that needs to protect sensitive data, the data breach could be traced back to the decision to put that much data on a publicly accessible web application without any defense in depth. I stand by what I wrote

We have a good meetup culture in Atlanta. Lookup the Atlanta Ruby users group when you get settled. Lots of tech startups to work with.

This sucks! I do not know of a comparable service to recommend to friends and family. The business plan is more expensive than Backblaze. This is a true blow to those of us who run Linux at home as the dearth of go-to cloud backup services
