In C++ they can be copied.

I wish the pipeline operator were standardised so we can stop fiddling with prototypes.

The process of generating the WASM is entirely different. C, C++ and Rust all generate x86 assembly but they have very different trade offs. Following this line of reasoning writing raw WASM would also be a fine choice!

This argument is a bit... tired. There are genuine advantages to different technologies and we should explore them. Every article about rewrites (not only Rust) is met with this sort of comment and it is counter productive. If someone is cl

This a true, but the advantage is probably more than offset by the relative cost of JS vs Rust developers. You can also add Flow types. A single threaded environment does not yield the usual advantages of the Rust borrow checker.

If you allow early returns in a loop then loops are no longer expressions.

You're right, but there's another concern: who maintains the software? The original developers forming a company that supports development is not possible if the company is not protected by the license in some way.

If you want an object with a few getters and setters, just make a class. This proposal is to remove the boiler plate of creating immutable objects with value semantics.

Is this also true within a country? Does Wales (for example) pull down GBP for the benefit of the rest of the UK?

Switch to a language that emphasises functional programming (F#, Clojure, OCaml, etc) and it will happen naturally.

This article talks more about what a great puzzle game is and less about how to design one. it's a bit disappointing!

Make (to use your example) does not do any sandboxing to ensure that the declared dependency graph is actually correct. This is the big innovation in Bazel (and Co).

In theory, C and assembly will give you the fastest possible implementation. However, in practice, we're just not smart enough to write this code without introducing bugs. High level languages allow us to specify what we want the progr

Not quite. The article claims that the health of various organs affect each other. Is it really so obvious that cardiovascular health improves the brain?

Not quite, because D brings many other things. I mean something that is equivalent to C++, with all of the same semantics, but a less ambiguous grammar.

Can we design a language (cpp-prime?) that is basically c++ but makes parsing easier? I'm thinking reduce the keyword reuse, use different symbols for multiplication and pointers etc. The code would be easy for c++ developers to read a

This kind of place orientated programming can make the actual algorithm very hard to follow. I really hope that JS gets custom value types in the future.
