Apple made the fonts thicker in recent iOS releases. I don’t understand the other complaints. Anecdotally, users are more proficient with iOS than Windows or macOS, for similar usage times.

I think this was the promise of D. For some reason it's not very popular.

In my benchmarks Bazel was the fastest of the lot, including Meson with Ninja.

The Cmake migration tools are not very good. Meson has no glob support. Meson does not support any form of remote caching.

Anyone else disappointed by the Java implementation of these ideas? It feels less ergonomic than previous solutions and came considerably later. That said, it is better than nothing.

The language and the runtime are basically one package. I don’t care that node is fast because it is all C under the hood. To the end user, it’s just fast.

The benchmark is flawed. It should compare the fastest possible C++ implementation and a more idiomatic C++ implementation. The entire purpose of the language is to allow both to coexist in the same code-base. I would be very surprised if t

I think it calls into question the code samples. There are very few C features not in C++.

If communism hadn’t collapsed, would these places be better? It’s a fair question, since you cannot keep things in stasis.

After switching to ML languages for most development tasks, I don’t think I could face using a language with so few features. Is most of the hype from a dev ops perspective? Go looks tiresome to program in.

C++ supports more complex inheritance models. Operator overloading The const keyword C++ can guarantee stack allocations C++ has faster boot times C++ templates are more powerful than Java generics C++ latency is better, which is important

We also see remarkably shallow dependency graphs in the C++ world. Many projects are only a few layers on top of Boost! I made a few dot graphs if people are interested.

This is the chicken - egg problem of C++ package managers. one approach is to try to wrap all build systems (Conan); the other is to port to a common build system (vcpkg, Hunter, Buckaroo). The wrapping approach makes it very hard to inspec

The solution in my experience (also the approach at Google) is to always build from source but cache the build artefacts. This is how Buckaroo works too (although it is Buck instead of Bazel).

I spent considerable time playing with Java and various usability extensions, but if I could go back I would have ditched Java much sooner. ML based languages really are an order of magnitude productivity boost.
