Kind of blown away that IPs were still free on AWS. I'm using mostly Google Cloud and Azure the past few years and as the article mentions, they already charge for IPs.

Can recommend https://cassandra-reaper.io/ for most of the management stuff you're mentioning. Still not free though, running Cassandra requires (some) effort in my experience.

The article contains a link with the rather curious title "10 things that Richard Branson hates about PostgreSQL".... Turns out the guy who wrote that blog is called Rick Branson, not Richard.

It looks really promising, would also love to know the status of this. Can't find any announcements of this yet.

Cloud Run Jobs https://cloud.google.com/run/docs/quickstarts/jobs/create-ex... would come to mind. Managed Docker containers that run as jobs to completion.

I've gotta get me a t-shirt saying: I'm seeing "elevated error rates". Can't count the number of times I've seen that line on status pages (not only vercels, any SaaS). It always feels like downplaying the situ

With the added benefit of being also available for other languages, java/kotlin, python, node, etc. Great for integration testing.

Out of curiosity: Would you be willing to share how you acquired this data? Website scraping or other means?

Note that there are easier open source solutions available for OSM routing like: GraphHopper, OSRM and Valhalla. Nonetheless cool to see something like this can be put together with neo4j.

Can't believe he was president of YC not too long ago. YC being all about startups while this move seems more about killing AI startups.

I've also got remarkably good results pushing regular expressions to the max to perform "NER", while other more fancy (ML) solutions failed. So don't rule them out.

Ah I see, I know Azure and GCP in NL are in separate buildings but indeed on the same site. But that's not guaranteed for other regions, good to know.

Anyone know how this could affect multiple zones? "Customers can failover to zones in other regions". Unless a whole area got flooded.

For your typical run of the mill project just stick to Maven. The fact that it uses an XML file is not a real issue in any way shape or form.
