Using the word hacked to describe this irks me. A hack implies some visceral and ingrained knowledge that shouldn't be discernable from magic to the uninitiated. This is a timetable. It's shiny and all, but it's not as though I'm staring bl

I am a subscriber, purely because I don't want anyone to get my username. This really pisses me off, but at the end of the day, I like being richo everywhere so I'm gunna suck it up, pay $5 a month for a service I don't use and write it off

Short answer to both questions is https://github.com/richo More specifically, I have an HTTP kernel in scheme that I want to get compliant to the spec and release, and a gossip driven task/issue tracker that I'd like to get out.

Epic karma cashgrab is epic. I don't think this article really has a lot of relevance, the ESR style of hacker doesn't have all that much in common with this community tbh, and those that do gravitate in that direction have probably already

You lost me at "email is broken". Email isn't perfect, but contending "The system is broken, so we built another layer on top of it" makes me think you haven't given this a lot of thought.

+1 I wasn't aware that parsing markdown was "Expensive" Kramdown does it in pure ruby, and stupid fast as far as I can tell, and that's single threaded with the GIL.

Seriously? This is a fact: <opinion here>. Java calling anyone else's stack traces is backwards and hilarious, and only going to get better in about 15 years when java finally gets lambdas.

Much of this is invalid. Github flavoured markdown works everywhere (that I can think of) Notifications have recieved a much needed revamp. Not saying none of this is relevant but posting it right now just seems like a petty cashgrab for ka

Cool as a proof of concept- realistically I'd be stunned if this didn't punish your conversions. The scrolling experience was klunky, and because of the way it cuts off text, you're forced to completely load the new frame and drop all conte

The PHP ECOSYSTEM has some awesome stuff, I completely agree. A lot of the companies with a decent amount of tech brand behind them in the HN community still use it a lot. In saying that, the PHP LANGUAGE has some pretty glaring and terrify

What safeguards do you have in place to stop the unweary from sticking this into production? While normally I'm a massive advocate of "Just not being retarded", I suspect a lot of people are going to drop shells as a result of this gem :(

Calling Xorg garbage is naive. Even if you only use terminals, and you have to have a framebuffer that supports that native resolution of your screen, you'll find that Xorg is nearly always more performant. If you have issues with X11's sec

I signed up out of curiosity, but it doesn't look like there's an option to not test yet. I'm building a product, not a startup exactly and so I need to organise some useful data to be in the test environment before they use it.

In your first post, you say that github only deploy from one branch. I can't find the post offhand, but they now deploy feature branches, and only merge to master after deploying it, at which point they release their "shipping lock"

I don't think he wanted an intro to CPP, he wants to know where to find work. In fairness, if someone needs to know that c++ doesn't have a GC, then you'd have to be out of your mind to give them work.
