Sigh, so an interesting and thought provoking article is taken down because it could have been percieved as sexist? Why not just s/wife/partner/g and call it a day? I don't think that it was inflammatory. Maybe it's due to wildly unchecked

Seems to ignore a lot of the flexibility of a traditional shell. There's not a lot of ways to put all these tools together, that I can see.

Thankyou! The app looked well and truly worth the $3 so I just bought it, but good to know for next time.

I spent a while trying to work out where you are meant to enter them. I like to think I'm reasonably clever, but apple's interfaces make me feel like a luddite.

So, calling magic subroutines is more functional than passing about first class functions?

Is that necessarily true though? I reckon it's cool to draw on the collective experience of a group to find out nichey stuff, underground bands in that genre, for example.

I bought it, but the DMG doesn't want to mount. file(1) reckons it's just bzip2 data so I'm unpacking it and gunna poke around.

Awesome. I haven't touched my propeller in months because the spin toolchain was finicky, just got a test program loaded in minutes. Awesome.

I'll grant you that a reply calling me on being on the asshole side of the fence being downvoted, and a dickish post getting upvotes kinda sucks. That said, I don't subscribe at all to "I tried hard so tell me I did well". Like I said, I wo

Wow, you've been at this for 3 whole months?! You're totally qualified to tell people what they should be learning. Ignoring the 3 paragraph post, and the assertion that Rails is the only web framework for ruby (or that python and php als

Yeah, if you're incapable of accepting that complicated scenario is complicated. The next two paragraphs identified two things that they weren't doing that they should have been. Otherwise they'd just have lots of snapshots of bad data.

When I connect with my phone, I still have to log in? Why can't you embed a token in the QR code? I use huge pads for passwords and typing them in on my phone is traumatic and awful.

Snapshots are stupid in the case of a content addressable, immutable data store. You're better off asserting that your objects haven't changed (Which they weren't, and I agree that they should have been) and were valid in the first place (S

Git doesn't nuke objects until you explicitly ask it to. It might sync broken objects, but it won't actually chose to destroy dangling objects without being asked to.

Did you actually read the article? The mirroring in question is NOT block level like you'd see with DRDB or RAID. It's the --mirror option to much of git's plumbing, and it's not the same thing.

Someone needs to explain the difference between correlation and causation. Birthday parties are very strongly correlated with living longer. Party every day, you'll never die, right?
