I'm comparing maths with programming and every other subject I learned in school and after :) I do find maths difficult, which is also why I am fascinated by it. It's alien to me. As for physics, although I have never studied it t

Thanks for your reply, that's some useful information. I'm writing as a self-taught programmer who has spent years trying to get a handle on the maths of game development and computer graphics; for the most part that means calculu

Hmm, Not sure what the problem would be. Are you accidentally touching the top right corner of the screen? Thats where the pause button is, there's a little video player pause icon up there. I made that whole corner into a pause button

My first game for an early mobile platform (2003) took me six months and sold 600 copies. My latest iPhone release took a couple of years of part time work, and doesn't look like it will even approach that. It won't even cover the

The Amiga had several good BASICs, particularly AMOS and Blitz Basic. Blitz was very powerful and fun to program. You could easily drop beneath the provided commands and access the OS and hardware beneath. It had well-integrated inline asse

What I have always disliked about this quote is that it implies that the external world is fixed, and that the task of the individual is to merely accept what is presented to him/her without regard to that persons own desires and incli

One of the difficulties in creating novelty is in creating the "relationships between symbols" as you say. Take a sword in an RPG for example. It can be a weapon, it can be sold, it can be used as a crutch for a wounded person. It

I got into Renderman in the late nineties thanks to Larry Gritz's Renderman compliant renderer BMRT, which was free for non-commercial use. I believe it was used for a number of Hollywood productions alongside PRMan, since it could ray

Thats something that bothered me regarding mindfulness vs. concentration. Mindfulness presupposes that the "Three Fundamental Characteristics" exist, and have the form described by Buddhist metaphysics. It tells you to take this on faith an
