On Android you can install PWA's from the App Store, no reason why Apple couldn't also support it.

I think those people overestimate how useful it is to get a bunch of random code snippets from some company, that may or may not even reach production unchanged.

Yeah, I suppose this is very language dependent. In Ruby I actually quite enjoy writing tests, whereas in Java it was boilerplate pain.

The poster is against oligopolies but is using the term "economy of scale" instead, which is incorrect and causes confusion.

You're not using the common definition of "economy of scale" and that is leading to confusion. Maybe use "mega-corporations" or something like that? Your mention of 9 companies vs 2 also tells me you're trying

Those engineering fields have exams and certifications. Software Engineering is still too immature for that, I think.

The downside is that you're now wasting interview time on the river crossing problem instead of actually relevant questions for the job you're hiring for.

You can just use the internet archive if you think some stuff has been deleted or modified. All the claims I remember of a possible twitter collapse were about users abandoning it, not about some technical issue that would be unsolvable.

Can you back that up with an example, perhaps the Android Play Store? Is there significantly more malware on recent (last ~5 years) versions of Android than similarly recent versions of iOS?

What does similar quality mean, it they're different in multiple axes? Maybe one is easier to use but the other is faster, or one is better tested but the other is written in a more modular way that won't require big refactors to

Regarding the startup time, it has been massively improved since the initial Firefox snap release. It'll always have non-zero overhead for the reasons you mentioned, but it's already fast enough that it no longer bothers me.

The snap package actually doesn't have this issue at all, it just waits for you to close the browser to switch to new version but you can keep using it for however long you want without Firefox complaining like it does if a package man

The argument was "[it] takes so much money and know how buildup that only nations and maybe the top 5 or so companies could pull it off. ", so the funding was the question, not who runs it.

As I said, it might be a terrible financial decision to finance a phone, but a lot of people still make that decision. You don't need to be rich to have a payment plan of $40 a month for 3 years.

Their economy is not growing, that's just GDP being boosted on paper by a war economy, as usual. Dragging a bunch of people out of unemployment to go die in trenches or to build IFV's that get blown up 2 weeks later makes your GDP
