From the article: > End your lines at between 60 and 75 characters, or so. (There's a reason[3] that newspapers and magazines do not use the whole width of their page and instead create much shorter columns.) The author forgot that

That's because there is no single "WAN interface". The WAN port on the router is often just a differently labelled Ethernet port.

It would have been nice until extra logic comes in: cron doesn't send an email when there is no output. Which is exactly what I want! Error? I must know. Output? If I left any, then it's a notification, and I must know. No output?

I'm not seeing there is no difference, I'm saying that the methds to curb it are the same. Pretending that you don't understand the argument of the other side ("it won't work because only criminals") won't

The one reason I don't use systemd timers is that they don't have an automatic, reliable way to send me an email with their output.

That's oversimplifying it. Banning encryption is a form of censorship (because words don't need to be manufactured), and censorship, as far, as I can tell, does have an effect. For example, criminals who abuse children to produce

While it might be an interesting read for an European, the article seems to be focused on the situation in the USA :)

That reinforces the parent's point. If such a large gesture was approved, then it reflects the position of "China". Alternatively, it reflects that a single official thinks they can get away with it, which means someone in Ch

> an interest in catastrophe That interest is subtler than you make it out to be. The group wants to find out which catastrophes matter. It doesn't really mean that they are looking for one.

Defense doesn't work as a goal. Lack of de-escalation is likely to mean further escalation. You can step into defense as you escalate a conflict, but you can't remain in defense forever as a conflict with a nuclear power heats up.

Sure, but that ignores the elephant in the room: if not de-escalation then what?

While de-escalation may have been tried, the parent is pointing out that the attempts have ceased. But what is the end-game if de-escalation is no longer the goal? Is the West ready to commit to that end-game?

Why don't we choose between spending money on coal/war/farm subsidies/health care or fusion? There are more than two options.

I'm always hitting the limitation that I can't use a const parameter on a trait like a const generic. As an example, this is disallowed: struct Helper<B: Buffer> { x: [u8; B::SIZE], }

I badly want to try it out and see how it fares in practice, together with some integration with open() calls for interoperability. But where to get it?
