Yes, I really wonder if emscripten was explored here... I assume he was doing this all on the server-side (since there's a mention of $25k monthly server bills). From the link: > This was painful, expensive, and inefficient. Clients

Fabrice Bellard is the author of qemu and ffmpeg (among other things), so it is likely he is aware of the benefits of open source and it is a conscious decision (maybe there is interest from someone with relatively deep pockets, or maybe he

Virtual environments are optional though, right? You could have one big virtualenv for all projects, or simply install things into the system path (although I wouldn't recommend either)

Plan 9 has addressed some of the leaks in this abstraction, many things are significantly more "file-like". Still, it's possible that open/read/write/seek is just not the right abstraction in all cases. http:&

It's a service called everything.me - it provides search for the apps on the phone itself and also indexes a bunch of web pages already wrapped as lightweight "apps" that work on the phone with no install needed, see http:&#

I did a bit of extra work to make my puppet manifests work outside of vagrant too, so I can use a simple script to install to any Ubuntu base box (e.g. bare metal, EC2, docker, etc) - https://github.com/mozilla/socorro&

Perhaps it is not clear from the article, but the twitter app is a third-party application in the marketplace written by Twitter not Mozilla: http://blog.twitter.com/2013/02/twitter-for-firefox-os.html

I disagree - apps run in their own process, and can have separate privileges from the browser process. Web applications on Firefox OS are not the same as tabs in a desktop browser. Twitter might not be the best example, admittedly :)

Right, debbugs is a definitely a bug tracker. PostgreSQL is a better example of a project that uses a mailing list rather than a bug tracker: http://www.postgresql.org/support/submitbug/
