Be aware that with the WHATWG Encoding specification [1], that says that latin1, ISO-8859-1, etc. are aliases of the windows-1252 encoding, not the proper latin1 encoding. As a result, browsers and operating systems will display those fil

I've had the opposite experience. I've found using Optional/map everywhere harder to read than Kotlin nullable types. And I find Kotlin streams/streaming API easier to read and use/more intuitive than Java's eq

I'm using Java 11 and Java 17 with Kotlin without issues. When targeting Java 8, Kotlin creates helper classes for the default methods on interfaces as that is not supported in Java 8, whereas on Java 9+ it uses Java default functions.

Try editing the pre style so it has `white-space: pre-wrap`. That works for me. -- This uses `pre` whitespace formatting but wraps to the next line if it is too long, unlike the default `pre` element behaviour.

I wonder if the idea is that adding pseudo-classes for the different things is not really scalable because you would ultimately need to do it for a lot of things -- requiring browsers to implement, test, and maintain custom code for each se

Kotlin is in a tricky place w.r.t. Java because the JVM is one of Kotlin's target platforms. If Kotlin deviated from the JVM too far, it would be harder to migrate to the newer JVM versions. That specifically applies to things like pat

I see AI tools as being useful for getting a first draft of something (art, code, text, etc.) which the artist, writer, etc. can use to edit and refine into a product. It can also be useful for experimenting with/iterating on concepts.

One benefit of splitting the lexer and parser is that you can write tests for the lexer that cover different lexical variations of a token -- e.g. for decimal/double values you could test that `1.`, `.2`, `1.0` all produce the same tok
