Replacements are helpful, try a bunch of different things to see if you can find something that soothes you in the same way. I tried silly puddy, pulling the bristles on a brush, stress balls, many different types of "fidget toys"

"Poisoned" is not defined by your contribution to society though. I could be poisoned by carbon monoxide then get some fresh air and be fine for the rest of my life but it doesn't change that I was still definitely poisoned.

Your confidentiality agreement with a study can preclude them from even releasing the anonymized raw data, invaliding a study in the eyes of the EPA. It also mandates reproducibility. It isn't exactly easy or even possible to reproduce
