While this (Threema) is Open Source, I feel it does not align with the spirit of FOSS. See the commits here for example: https://github.com/threema-ch/threema-android/commits/main It's one commit per ver

The problem isn't killing the apps in the background, it's whitelisting others. I want every app I don't manually allow to run in the background to be terminated after a short period of 30s~60s or so.

Oof that was pleasantly unexpected! Thanks for sharing! Not a big fan of the MATE DE, but a big fan of the drink. Maybe I should give the former another try just based on this.

I believe copyleft stands for and invisions a better world where all code is free/libre and available to everyone. And the GPL family of licenses is trying to get us there. MIT and the like, while being good open source licences, allow

Add Google Assistant Reminders and Google Calendar to this list. Which of these 5 would you use to set a reminder to get milk? (Note: Bonus points if you say you'd send yourself a delayed email through Gmail)

I used to do that, but then all of those blocked domains start appearing in the ssh auto-completion alongside those configured in ssh config, which gets annoying. I prefer dnscrypt-proxy over PiHole if you don't want a UI. NOTE: A bene

Have you tried [Joplin]( https://joplinapp.org/ )? It's FOSS, works on local files, has encryption and supports note linking. It also has apps for several platforms.

A better analogy would be a dishwasher from BigCorp that only allows you to wash dishes approved by BigCorp.

I believe they'll add that soon, but they haven't yet because of either: 1) The code base is not production ready yet, and they don't want an issue to come up which leaks users passwords 2) (More likely) They intend to add su

I misspoke, I did not mean that as a whole, I only meant that in terms of the availability of legal and libre alternatives for that market (they may not be as convenient to use or available in a single package, but allow you to create rough

It's not a huge deal if this only blocks people from accessing Adobe Creative Cloud. But this essentially blocks people who have purchased content from hundreds of other parties. Adobe is the global guardian of most of the DRM-ed ebook

I'm not sure I understand this complaint regarding salaries. I personally find it perfectly logical that 2 employees who put the same effort and work the same, earn the same. And by "earn" I mean once you deduct taxes, cost o

I hear you. But I worry that that's not enough. I trust Syncthing and the (many) Keepass (X/C)++ developers, but how hard really would it be to slip something in unnoticed. All it requires is some minuscule bug somewhere. It doesn
