I started having this problem with the mobile Gmail interface a few weeks ago too. The solution was to stop using a bookmarked inbox URL. When I use the http://mail.google.com/a/mydomain.com/ URL instead (and go through several redirects

This does look really cool, and they appear to be doing it right (IMAP + OAuth), but I'd feel really weird about giving a third party access to my Gmail account and letting them futz around with messages. I'm sure they're very careful and a

These tips are also very useful for Closure in simple optimizations mode. It's about avoiding things that can't be optimized safely, not avoiding things that "trip up" the compiler. Of course, Closure in advanced optimizations mode will req

"Javascript hosting is not exactly rocket science. So, okay, they have a shiny plugin store now. Great. Pig + lipstick?" The "revolution" is not that third-party modules are hosted on the Yahoo! CDN. That's been the case for a while now.

USAA has consistently received the highest possible credit ratings, even over the last few years while other banks have been failing. They also haven't taken any bailout money.

Riiight. Because browser vendors always fix important issues quickly. ;) What's more likely is that very few large sites are experiencing this problem, and of the smaller sites that may have experienced it, many probably never even knew it,

You seem to have the impression: 1. That what I said was hypothetical. It wasn't. This happened. 2. That one pageview amounts to no more effect on a server than causing it to process another request and send a few more bytes down the wire.

If your site is one of the world's top three most-visited websites and every pageview generates a single extra request, then you bet your ass it's going to cause problems.

Two questions: 1. If I currently have an iPhone 3GS on AT&T, will the Nexus One work with my existing data plan? I'd like to use both phones, at least at first, but I don't want two data plans. 2. Does the Nexus One support tethering on

Apple didn't allow this stuff. Their suppliers did, while trying to hide it from Apple. Unlike most companies, Apple actually bothered to investigate their suppliers and uncover these abuses rather than simply taking them at their word.

For HN, I suspect the reason was that it was fast and easy to code. The main disadvantage in this case is that there's no actual guarantee that the request made it to the server, so if the request fails for any reason, it fails silently. Th
