On a somewhat related aside, the book Land of Lisp [1] is an interesting introduction to both Common Lisp and game programming. If anyone, like me, was interested in learning Common Lisp through a casual and fun mode, I highly recommend the

Just adding on to this thread as a fairly new lisp enthusiast. I picked up SICP during the pandemic and have really fallen in the lisp rabbit hole and it has been super fun. I’ve mostly been toying with scheme (guile) and a bit of clojure.

I personally started with vanilla keybindings and when I get frustrated by some keybinding not feeling intuitive, I just change it to something else I like. I’ve had conflicts, and shot myself in the foot as a beginner, but you end up getti

Chicken Scheme compiles to C, and you can build binaries as you would with any C compiler. Geiser is the Scheme equivalent in emacs, but I don’t know how well it competes with SLIME/SLY/CIDER.

I’ve been watching the project for a while, and have dropped into the irc channel a few times. From what I’ve gathered, there’s slow but steady progress. Last I checked SICL was in a usable state, but I’m not sure how production ready it is

Really exciting and congrats on the launch! I was somewhat hoping there would be “see through” options for the bezel and the keyboard/trackpad frame - maybe a future consideration? I’m likely going to order one in the near future to us

Ah my bad, I think I misunderstood your comment. I was reaffirming this: > wasm can still be JITimed and get close to native performance I’m also not super familiar with this subject, so I unfortunately don’t understand the distinction y

wasmtime[0] is a WebAssembly standalone runtime that does JIT. It’s quite performant anecdotally and I think some benchmarks might be available. [0] https://github.com/bytecodealliance/wasmtime

Good to know, thanks! Hasn't bit me yet, but my config is fairly light.

Currently (with the native-comp branch) you have to enable it in your init.el, I assume that behavior will remain. E.g.: (setq comp-speed 3)

I started using the native-comp branch a few months ago and have had no issues. As for performance, I haven’t benchmarked but things are noticeably faster and smoother. I’m on macOS and my main issue was the display going blank for a few mi
