Many may be cynical.. but, say, Chloe Valdary's Theory of Enchantment looks wonderful. https://theoryofenchantment.com/ At least, I found its principles striking: 1. Treat people like human beings, not political abstra

One use case I liked for nix-shell shebangs was having a Python script which used Jinja templates. By adding a line like `#!nix-shell -i python ...`, it means that I could just run this Python script with "nix-shell generate.py".

I'm glad to see nix mentioned. It's maybe a little too weird to be able to practically recommend generally. (It's very difficult to deal with unhappy cases; you really need to know what you're doing to work through those

The command line interface is the easiest interface to script around, but it's also probably the least discoverable. GUI programs have much better discoverability. But ... it's generally hard to drive them with a keyboard. Emacs&#

What kindof keyboard do you have such that it doesn't fit keycaps? Even the niche datcyl manuforms will support cheap keycaps (even if they might not be compatible with high-profile keycaps).

This kinda reminds me of Steve Yegge's writings about different kinds of programmers. His main taxonomy is that there are programmers who prefer mistakes are caught as soon as possible, vs programmers who don't mind fixing things

In 2022, I think it's a reasonable expectation that API documentation can be accessed as rendered HTML. -- e.g. Haskell's or Rust's documentation even links to the source for the packages. On the other hand, I think it's

I tried a customisation of a keyboard with per-key RGB LEDs, which would light up the key if it was defined on that layer. As neat as it sounded, I don't think it was very useful. Once you're use to your custom keyboard layers, yo
