Almost everything is web now. Have friends in TCS, and they get a lot of government contracts. Almost everything is accessed through web GUIs nowadays.

Microsoft, Oracle have significant lobbying power within the government and PSUs. This was true ten years ago. Not aware of the situation now. Indian PSUs pay millions of dollars for sub-quality software.

I saw an actual Tweet by Gebru that said some loss functions are more racist than others. (I am not making this up.) Yes, she literally said that. I read some of her other work, and found little to no substance. She is mediocre at best. I w

I am not sure that I am good at programming. I am certainly not as good as the HN-type second generation SV kids who started programming at four. Given that, I do work at a lucrative position doing cutting-edge work. What made me get prog

Thanks. I like learning new stuff, and expand my mind. There are many courses on my to-do list that I learned about from HN. I have found Sedgewick's course to be very dry (not intellectually, but physical vibe-wise) as well and was an

What I do now, I gather some 10-20 EPUBs purchased from different sources, then batch convert them to MOBI using Calibre. Then I add them as attachments to my mail and use Send-To-Kindle. The MOBI files are barely hundreds of kilobytes, and

No dice there for me. I have entire full-semester university courses in my list. If working through them 5-7 each day, I can finish a full-semester course- with psets, midterms and assignments in 20-30 days. Even if I take a few weeks off,

The world is not a zero-sum game like it was 250 years ago. I am not a company in a low-margin, huge-scale business. I am a person. A human being. I do not need to "ruthlessly beat my opposition" to be happy and comfortable. And a
