Another great release! Maybe I'm just squarely within the target audience of VSCode, but I'm consistently impressed by how many of my pain points just magically go away with each new iteration.

OneDrive used to have "placeholder files" (online-only, downloaded on demand), but it was removed due to poor UX. https://blogs.office.com/2015/01/07/taking-the-next-step-in-... Sounds like the feat

I don't understand all the hate here. Either it will work well or it won't, and the market will decide if it gets to live or die. For a company with resources like Microsoft that has its fingers in so many corners of the market, t

You could set up some "failover" upstreams that are mirrored using git's post-receive hooks. Or, you could define a particular git remote to have multiple URL's. This post explains in greater detail: http://st

FPGA-based hardware acceleration for "X" seems like a really practical idea. Any chance of seeing this kind of technology expand in the future?

It will be interesting to see if the formal proof/verification work that is being done by NICTA for the seL4 project will mature into something that can be used practically elsewhere in industry. https://sel4.systems/

Where are Scaleway's data centers located? I found mention on their site that they're a Paris-based company, but is this the only geographical location for their offerings?

There are several changes to the SoC, not just the addition of 64-bit support. They increased clock speed and made other architectural improvements (e.g. better instruction pipelining) resulting in these numbers.

I would argue that having a centralized system is important for a lot of collaborative applications. Without it, you're basically pushing/pulling code ad-hoc with team members, which may or may not even be technically feasible bec

The ultimate goal of an operating system is to provide some abstraction level so that application programmers don't have to worry about things like disk I/O, scheduling, etc... The key here is that the OS takes care of things that
