I used to play Multi Theft Auto a lot years ago on GTA: Vice City, which was similarly buggy but excellent fun. This just looks completely insane. Impressive work by the developers - even though they've effectively piggy-backed onto an exis

Thank you for taking the time to type this out - I'll study it and hopefully will be able to make sense of it! I appreciate the effort you put in. Edit: aaaand that makes sense. I see now why he thought it was a bit of a hack, but it's stil

I look forward to that moment. I can remember trying to look up a simpleton's explanation back when I first heard of it, but I gave up and figured I'd understand one day when I got a bit better at programming.

I've been avoiding doing this, and I'm not certain the reason is valid - I don't want Google to have my mobile phone number. Perhaps I'm being overly cautious, but the fact Google already collects such a huge amount of data on me, coupled w

My first car was 55HP - that was in 2004. It's not that uncommon, in the UK at least, for smaller, older cars. Plus horses seem to escape over the years.

It makes life much, much easier. I live in a rural part of the UK, where I often get stuck behind caravans / tractors and that sort of thing. I have a 225HP car and it means I can quickly and safely overtake other vehicles on the road. Plus

A lot of websites now offer SSL by default, or as an option - is this more of an obstacle or can ISPs use some sort of MITM technique to defeat the SSL for snooping purposes? Forgive my ignorance, I'm very curious about this as a UK citizen

In the UK at least, the 10 DRM-free downloads no longer apply for new Zune Pass subscribers. Those who already had that type of subscription will keep it, from what I understand, but it's no longer an option for new people.

If you read my post again, you'll see I said "lots of things like this" haven't been tested in IE9. It wasn't a personal attack on the author. Just a remark that it's unfortunate that despite the canvas support in IE9, a large amount of the

A missing doctype shouldn't have anything to do with the system, though, assuming that's what the problem is. Clearly other browsers are more forgiving.

This seems to force quirks mode in IE9, which prevents the pixel clock from displaying. Perhaps the missing DOCTYPE. Lots of things like this don't seem to have even been tested in IE9, despite the fact it's (subjectively, to me at least) a

The Nintendo DS / 3DS? A large amount of the software available for those consoles utilises a dual-screen interface in an interesting / useful way. Admittedly not a device designed for creation (beyond the camera and associated silly visual

None of the recent Sonic games have been anywhere near the standard that they used to be. Sega, to me, are a sad example of a company that used to make great games consoles & games and are now resigned to manufacturing mediocre games. I

I have no problems with the 3DS. I think it's a great handheld console - the software library has been a bit limited so far, but replaying Ocarina of Time having not played it since it launched on N64 has been great. The 3D effects add some

I'd say juvenile would be a more appropriate word. Given Google's recent behaviour with the Nortel auction (bidding pi etc), which could also be seen as a bit childish, perhaps this is Microsoft simply responding in kind. It is bizarre thou

Agreed. The 'normal' Kindle is a fantastic little device, the battery life being one of the many reasons why I don't feel the new Fire supercedes it in any way.

I think the point is that CSS3 is hardware-accelerated on platforms like the iPad / iPhone, whereas the canvas isn't - it runs like a bit of a dog on those two. I personally would prefer using the canvas though, especially if it becomes HW

Always good to see a Javascript game like this (i.e. not sudoku / tic-tac-toe). It's good. I did notice some weird stuff with grenades disappearing through the floor though. I like the stick figures also!

It's not quite that simple, though, from the sound of it - the author said he had to 'reimplement' all the canvas calls to use OGL. Fine if you're familiar with it, but for those people who just want to bash out a Javascript game without ha

That's incredible, poor guy. It doesn't sound like he got a great deal of compensation, either - I'd be fairly hacked off if my face was half-melted off because of someone else's / a machine's incompetence.

"Just bring legal action" - sadly, for most people, 'just bringing legal action' is not quite as simple as you make it sound. Not least in terms of expense.

This looks dreadful. Why would I want yet another box and remote connected to my TV, especially when it looks as cumbersome as this to use? Who is this actually aimed at?!
