It's not just a performance optimization. It's a cleaner architecture that's easier to test.

Though I haven't checked, I would guess that WinJS has strongly-typed TypeScript bindings, for those who choose to use TypeScript. But releasing the library itself in JS makes it available to a wider audience and doesn't prevent i

Since when does Crockford say that JSMin is the right tool for this particular job: translating JSON5 into regular JSON?

Citation needed. I've seen evidence to the contrary. Generally anything with cache-control (or equivalent) headers suggesting that it should be cached, will be.

JSMin is not the right tool for this. I'm sure it conforms to the JavaScript (ECMAScript) spec but probably not the JSON spec. Here's a trivial JavaScript function to convert JSON5 to regular JSON with no comments and quoted ident

Legacy code, at some point in the past, was somebody's new and beautiful code (or so they thought -- little did they know it was hideous). If the tools that existed then didn't allow them to do the hideous things they did, you wou

Nobody said doing an API-based design requires you to (purely) client-side render. Lots of people are consuming APIs and rendering (initially) on the server, then consuming the same or similar APIs to do updates on the client. Best of both

I think "computationally very hard" means exactly what you say NP-complete problems are ("very hard to solve efficiently"). Typically when one talks about the computational difficulty of an algorithm, they are talking ab

In NYC, you can drop off a bag of laundry at a Wash and Fold, and pick it up the next day clean and folded for $20. Where is your $100 going for getting your laundry done?
