To be fair, this has been around for many years within Microsoft under the name Windows Fabric. I'm not sure how old the python lib is, but the other one is much newer.

Task<T>/async is a slightly different beast, effectively its a goroutine+channel which can only return 1 value or throw an exception. A better alternative to channels is Rx (Reactive Extensions) which gives you IObservable<T&g

Go to a doctor which bulk bills and you wont have to pay anything. My experience: Call doctor at 9am to book appointment. Walk into medical center at 1pm. See doctor. Sign form on my way out to say I received treatment. I didn't have t

Look into Microsoft's Task Parallel Library, it's fantastic! It gives you something similar to channels. I wish more people knew about it. As someone else mentioned, Reactive Extensions are also great - I believe they will be gett

Hi, I do this often. MSBuild is actually very good. That being said, the new stuff coming with ASP.NET 5.0 (vNext), where the build is a simplified JSON file is interesting

Solving for read hot-spots is not difficult if you're willing to accept a small read penalty: Your typical Kademlia DHT has k-replicas of each piece of data, so you read near the target node (node closest to the target key) rather th

I believe poster was trying to say that load balancing is probabilistic rather than deterministic: Load is levelled across the DHT only if the hashing function maps keys evenly over the nodes (assuming each key has an equal amount of work a

"WaitAll" and "WaitAny" have their non-blocking counterparts, "WhenAll" and WhenAny", which allow you to express the same logic/structure without blocking a thread. Nesting callbacks (ContinueWith) ge

ContinueWith is fine for simple flows, but things fall apart when you need to perform multiple async operations with the same error handling. You either repeat yourself or you put the error handling code into a lambda and make sure you alwa

Very cool! https://haveibeenpwned.com/ added a similar feature recently, which anyone can use to get notifications if their email appears in a paste or DB leak.

It would still make sense to use the replicated write-back cache to avoid trips to disk. We were considering replacing MongoDB with Cassandra, though. I wanted to avoid having to deploy and maintain a database system, so using table storage

I agree with you - we need numbers before making that kind of conclusion and I haven't run any benchmarks on the public version of DocDB. I'd like to see someone measure MongoDB on Azure vs DocDB on Azure - even then it might not

DocDB is built atop a very well battle-tested distributed systems framework with replication based on a multi-Paxos implementation. I haven't done any benchmarks, but the replication model is far superior to MongoDB's "journa

You can produce and consume signed libraries in .NET very easily. In practice it's becoming less common as .NET becomes more open. As an aside, OP says he works with Bart De Smet and they're messing with expression trees. I bet th

When you enable replication in MongoDB, you turn on an effectively global lock: the 'local' db must be locked for all primary writes so that the oplog can be written consistently. MongoDB replication is a very unfortunate thing, I
