I haven't seen this particular issue but I've seen very similar bugs in my own work where GPU and CPU are not properly sync'd when using glyph or small image cache textures. E.g. gpu has a frame pending, CPU updates glyph cac

I haven't done it for many years but you've reminded me that I could sometimes play songs in my head and actually hear it. Only very softly though, like old-fashioned headphones on a very low volume. I still have music in my hea

Good points. It may be worth allowing power users to choose which one of those archetypes they are via some advanced option somewhere, and that option controls which flavour of UI you get.

Absolutely this. More functions => More complexity => Bad. Also: decreased legibility, less opportunity for compiler optimisation.

V surprised and pleased when Louis Rossman popped up here. He's doing awesome work in the world of hardware repair, he fights the good fight against Big Tech stupidity & unfairness, and he's generally a force for good in the w

I remember reading that many years ago radical surgery was performed for a few particularly severe tinnitus cases in which the auditory nerve was completely severed, yet even that didn't fix the tinnitus. So yes, I think there is somet

I hadn't heard of ReactOS but a quick glance at it's kernel source on GitHub and it's OBVIOUSLY straight from Windows. Not that I work for MS but I used to work on NT graphics drivers and had a copy of the leaked NT kernel so

Presumably all the detail is shown at once? I'm picturing something more like Google Maps navigation where you zoom into the source diagram and the code appears. Perhaps I'm imagining an alternative way to manage source trees, or

I'm not particularly interested in coreutils per se but this is a super-interesting way to look at any piece of software. I just _love_ the block diagrams... why can't source code look like this? Great work!

John Carmack's thoughts on this topic are worth a read: http://number-none.com/blow/blog/programming/2014/09/26/carm...

This is such a glorious project. I wonder if intersecting shapes could be detected and automatically decomposed into a set of non-intersecting shapes that render separately...

It's because there's no situation in which you (I hope) or I could conceivably be accused of being child pornographers. It will never affect us and the people it does affect are the worst of the worst and are identified as such

Ridiculous. "Hate speech" didn't kill 50 innocent people, a goddamned lunatic with an automatic rifle did. As Mark Steyn has remarked on this latest moral panic, "Less speech inevitably means more violence - because, if

I completely agree. It's crazy to blame FB for shitty human behaviour, one might as well blame the computers and phone lines they use. It's even crazier to use the issue to advocate for ever greater censorship, as all media compan

Who gets to define who a Nazi is? If I say that 4 million died in the Holocaust rather than 6 million, is that Holocaust denial?

Can't you see that censoring an idea will lead people who are simply curious to think that there must be something in it, or else why would they ban it? Far better that idiocy should be on public display where it can be mocked and dest
